Carol has been involved in the dental world for over 50 years. She was in the second formal programme at the Vancouver Vocational School for dental assistants. She then went back to UBC to get her Certified level. She is also registered with the Canadian Dental Assistants. Carol has worked for many private dental offices and also spent three years in the clinic department of Vancouver Children’s Hospital. It was here that she learned how to adapt to many different techniques and working styles as each month she assisted with 40 different dentists.
She has had additional dental experience working in Australia and New Zealand . This was part of a two year opportunity to travel in the south pacific. A great bit of fun training not only a staff of 8 women but also the four dentists and upgrading their two offices..
While her husband took his doctorate at the University of Santa Barbara, she held a two year position of trouble shooter for the family student housing of 350 families. This was an amazing opportunity to look into the complexities and sacrifices one makes for higher education.
She had an opportunity to work for Tinhorn Creek Winery and spent 10 years on the front line as she was their official ”greeter”.
She was happily married for 40 years and has a daughter and son. Family has always been a very large part of her world with camping, hiking, sports and15 years of dressage horse riding. This also allowed her the opportunity to be involved in the executive level of organizing these activities.
Quiet times are spent with the love of reading, hand crafts, quilting, gardening, attending live theater and being with family and friends.
She always says “it has been a grand life, to date” …and hopefully the future holds more opportunities for her to continue to learn and have new life experiences.
